Sustainable Filmmaking Competition
EcoFilms – Telling Sustainability Stories, One Frame at a Time
1. Competition Description
EcoFilms aims to encourage participants to creatively explore and portray the impact of sustainable and unsustainable human behaviour through short films. Participants are expected to use storytelling, visuals, and sound to highlight environmental responsibility, the consequences of neglect, and pathways toward a more sustainable future.
2. Eligibility
Open to all college students (undergraduate and above) and professionals.
3. Participation Details
- Individual or Team participation
- Team size: Maximum 3 members
- Participation fee: Free
4. Competition Structure
The competition will be conducted in two rounds.
5. Round-wise Specifications
Round 1: Online Submission Round
- Submission must be made through a Google Form
- Deadline: 10th March 2026
Participants must submit a PDF containing the following:
- Link to the Short Film
- Maximum duration: 3 minutes
- Hosted on any accessible platform (e.g., Google Drive, YouTube, Vimeo)
- Ensure proper sharing permissions so judges can view the film
- Written Description (Maximum 200 Words)
- The message, idea, or concept of the film
- How the film represents sustainable and/or unsustainable behaviour
Guidelines:
- The film must be original and created by the participant(s).
- Any language is permitted; subtitles are recommended if the film is not in English.
- Plagiarism or use of copyrighted material without permission will result in disqualification.
✅ Shortlisted entries will advance to Round 2.
Round 2: Offline Showcase & Evaluation
- Venue: Indian Institute of Technology Bombay
- Shortlisted films will be screened offline before a panel of judges.
- Participants may be asked to briefly explain:
- The inspiration behind the film
- The intended message and execution
- Judging will be based on storytelling, creativity, relevance to the theme, and overall impact.
6. Prize Pool
🏆 Total Prize Pool: ₹15,000
7. General Rules
- Participants must adhere to the specified time limits and submission deadlines.
- Any form of plagiarism, misinformation, or unethical content will lead to disqualification.
- The decision of the judges and the organising committee shall be final and binding.
- The organisers reserve the right to use submitted films for promotional and educational purposes with due credit.
